Description

Warm, cinnamon-kissed peaches nestle under a golden, buttery crust that crackles at the edges, each spoonful marrying sweet fruit with soft, cake-like dough.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sliced fresh peaches
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Peel and slice peaches then toss with 2 tablespoons sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl whisk together flour, remaining sugar, baking powder and salt.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla extract until batter is smooth.
  5. Place butter in a 9×13 inch baking dish and heat in oven until fully melted.
  6. Carefully pour batter into melted butter in the dish without stirring.
  7. Spoon peach mixture evenly over the batter.
  8. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from oven and allow cobbler to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Traditional southern dessert
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
  • Use ripe sweet peaches for best flavor
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days
