Description
Thick, crackly-edged beef patties sizzle in the pan, then land on warm rice’s softness. Crisp lettuce and juicy tomato add freshness, while a creamy, tangy sauce and melty cheddar bring everything together in every spoonful.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato diced
- 1/2 onion thinly sliced
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup pickle chips
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- In a bowl whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to make the special sauce.
- Season ground beef with salt and black pepper and divide into four equal portions, rolling each into a ball.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place a beef ball in the skillet and use a spatula to firmly smash it into a thin patty. Cook 2 to 3 minutes until crispy edges form, then flip and cook another 2 minutes.
- Arrange cooked white rice in four serving bowls. Top each with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and sliced onion.
- Place one crispy beef patty on top of each bowl and drape one slice of cheddar cheese over each patty to melt slightly.
- Drizzle special sauce over the patties and finish with pickle chips.
- Serve immediately while patties are hot and crispy.
Notes
- For extra crispiness press and hold the patty firmly against the skillet when smashing.
- Adjust the special sauce seasoning to suit your taste preference.
- Freshly shredded lettuce adds better crunch than prepacked.
- Serve bowls right away to maintain the contrast of textures.
