Ingredients
- 12 sticks mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt to taste
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place flour in one shallow bowl.
- Whisk eggs and water together in a second shallow bowl.
- Combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dried oregano, paprika, and salt in a third shallow bowl.
- Dip each mozzarella stick first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the seasoned breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating for extra crispiness.
- Arrange coated sticks on the prepared baking sheet and freeze for 15 minutes.
- Lightly coat the cheese sticks with nonstick cooking spray.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Allow the sticks to cool for 2 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the cheese sticks are well frozen before baking to keep the cheese from oozing out.
- For an extra crunchy coating, use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs.
- Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce or ranch dressing.
- Store any leftovers in the freezer and reheat in a 375°F (190°C) oven until crisp.
