Description
This cooling watermelon sorbet blends juicy ripe melon, zesty lime, and a hint of mint into a smooth, icy slush. Hand-stirring breaks up ice crystals for velvety softness – a vibrant treat for hot afternoons.
Ingredients
- 4 cups seedless watermelon cubes
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint (optional)
Instructions
- Place seedless watermelon cubes in a blender.
- Add granulated sugar, fresh lime juice, and a pinch of salt to the blender.
- Blend the mixture until completely smooth.
- Taste the puree and adjust sweetness or acidity by adding more sugar or lime juice if desired.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl for an extra silky texture, discarding any pulp.
- Pour the strained mixture into a shallow, freezer-safe container.
- Freeze for one hour, then stir vigorously with a fork to break up ice crystals.
- Return to the freezer and repeat the stirring process every 30 minutes until the sorbet is fully set and smooth, about 3 hours total.
- Scoop into serving bowls and garnish with chopped fresh mint leaves if using.
Notes
- Use ripe seedless watermelon for the best natural sweetness.
- Adjust sugar and lime juice according to the sweetness of the watermelon.
- Stirring during the freezing process helps achieve a smoother sorbet texture.
- Store leftover sorbet in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one week.
