Description

Browned in olive oil and baked until golden, these turkey meatballs release a warm sage aroma while sweet apple pieces add a crisp pop. Serve them alongside mashed potatoes or pasta for a comforting, flavor-packed meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 small apple diced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage leaves chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl combine the ground turkey, diced apple, chopped sage, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix gently until ingredients are evenly distributed, taking care not to overmix.
  4. Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and set them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Add the meatballs and brown on all sides for 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Transfer the browned meatballs back to the baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until cooked through.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the meat for tender, juicy meatballs.
  • Use 1 teaspoon dried sage if fresh sage leaves are unavailable.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes, pasta, or a light salad for a complete meal.
